Call for Participation in IEEE BTS Young Professionals Workshop

We cordially invite BMSB2026 delegates to the BTS Young Professional (YP) Activity Workshop, a part of the 21st IEEE International Symposium on Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (BMSB) in João Pessoa, Brazil. The Workshop will be held from from 2:00 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., July 09, 2026, at Manaíra Hotel.

This workshop welcomes all delegates who are studying or conducting research in multimedia and broadcasting technologies. You can join a forum of scientists and engineers presenting your work/research plan, getting feedback, and possibly starting collaborations. This workshop helps students transition to young professionals within the IEEE BTS community.  

This workshop requires participants to present their current study/research and future goals in a 3-minute briefing in English. The workshop will last 1 hour and 40 minutes. A light refreshment, snacks, and drinks are provided. This event is free, but registration is required. Detailed Program of the YP workshop  

  • Badges will be distributed at the hall of Manaíra Hotel, 30 minutes before the workshop  
  • Welcome speech from the workshop chair  
  • Welcome speech from the YP activity chair  
  • Around 10-12 presentations. After each presentation, a certificate will be issued to the presenter by the activity chair and workshop chair in turn.  
  • YP activity chair declares the end of the workshop.

Summary

IEEE Humanitarian Technologies (HT) is a consortium of programs and initiatives—supported by a global network of volunteers and technical professionals—working together to apply technology to solve the world’s most pressing problems.

In keeping with the IEEE mission of advancing technology for the benefit of humanity, IEEE HT provides the resources, partnerships, and tools for developing and deploying innovative solutions to advance sustainable development goals globally while achieving social and environmental impact locally. The IEEE HT mission is to support impactful and ethically informed volunteer-led initiatives, programs and projects. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The vision of the IEEE HT Board (HTB) is to inspire and empower IEEE volunteers around the world carrying out and supporting impactful humanitarian technology activities at the local level.

This workshop is supported by IEEE HT. The following strategic pillars of humanitarian technologies will be discussed:

  • Become the Center of Humanitarian Expertise & Knowledge: Aggregate and provide knowledge and expertise in humanitarian technology to fuel the design, training, education, optimization and implementation of initiatives for maximum efficacy.
  • Establish Infrastructure for Impactful Programs: Establish program management rigor including framework to track impact metrics, best practices, progress tracking mechanisms and supportive tools to identify gaps and provide actionable recommendations for long-term project sustainability.
